Lasers have become ever-more valuable in the field of medicine. Patients of American Dermatology Associates can address a number of different concerns thanks to our inclusion of laser services. To be treated with laser technology does not mean the same thing in every situation. Different devices containing specific wavelengths of light are used to achieve various objectives. Laser Skin Resurfacing
There is a great deal of value in skin resurfacing. Using the Sciton laser, Dr. Trent gently abrades, or disrupts, the uppermost layers of skin cells. Doing so achieves two objectives. First, laser resurfacing removes the dead and damaged cells that are standing between you and the glowing skin you want. Second, the disruption that occurs on the surface incites the increased proliferation of collagen. Together, these two actions lead to smoother, brighter, healthier skin. Patients appreciate the Sciton laser for its mildness and expedited recovery.
Laser Hair Removal
Precise wavelengths of light have been shown to disable hair follicles over a course of 6 to 12 treatments. Laser hair removal has become increasingly popular due to the convenience and comfort of modern laser devices. Patients may feel a slight “snap” as laser energy is absorbed into the dark hair follicles, and the skin may feel slightly sensitive for a few hours after each treatment. For long-lasting results from hair removal, laser treatments are the best option.
Laser Vein Treatments
Spider veins on the face and other parts of the body are a common concern for which there is now an easy solution: laser vein treatment. The process works by heating the blood within affected veins, without causing excessive warmth on the skin’s surface. This thermal action within the vein causes the vein to disappear, similar to the process of sclerotherapy. The benefits? No needles and fast healing!
