Chest Rejuvenation is a Thing, Did You Know?

We are quick to notice the signs of aging as they develop around the eyes, nose, and mouth. Impossible to hide, these problems often become the first that we seek to correct. They can also remain the primary focus for many years if we don’t take a moment to look down. Neck and chest skin is nearly as susceptible to sun damage and the signs of aging as the face. However, we don’t typically notice these areas as much. It pays to pay attention here, though. The chest and neck frame the face and, if we’re not mindful, they can age us even when we’re strict about those Botox touch-ups.

Recent advances in technology have made it possible to quickly address issues such as hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and thinning of the skin on the neck and chest. For the mildest cosmetic concerns (and subtlest improvement), some people purchase silicone pads to wear while they sleep. These products can be soothing and somewhat replenishing, but they are not intended for correction. If you’re seeing the signs of aging and sun damage, you need more powerful treatment than the latest serum.

Lasers

Traditionally, laser resurfacing involved relatively aggressive CO2 laser light. The rejuvenation achieved with this standard technology was substantial. However, so was downtime and risk. Today, we are well-served by FDA-approved devices that adjust energy output. For example, our Sciton® Erbium laser uses computerized robotics to deliver the precise amount of energy in each situation. The flexibility of this laser device allows us to adjust output to the exact depth needed with minimal thermal damage.

Chemical Peels

Many people have come to realize that chemical peels provide an immense benefit to the skin at just about any age. Chemical peel treatment is one of the gentlest and most efficient ways to remove dead and damaged skin cells, oil, and dirt from the epidermis. By removing old cells, each peel encourages new cell formation. This process can be just as beneficial for the neck, chest, and other areas that have been affected by sun damage as it is for the face.
