Your Eyes: What Goes Wrong and How to Fix It

Dermal Fillers Sarasota, FLMany of the complaints expressed by the men and women who visit our Sarasota office revolve around the changing structure of the eyelid area. In fact, statistics in cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medicine indicate that eyelid concerns are prevalent across the country – and across several age groups. Not all cosmetic concerns around the eyes have to do with aging, and most cannot be avoided. Fortunately, we’ve got innovative therapies that can restore the appearance of youth you crave.

Three Common Eyelid Concerns

  1. Crepey skin. The skin around the eyes is delicate as it is. Throw in the loss of collagen and years of UV exposure, a little rubbing here and there and the effects of biological and environmental stressors, and you’ve got a recipe for thinning. As the skin loses resiliency and firmness, it can become paper-thin, but we can fix it. The solution: Laser skin resurfacing may be ideal for moderate to severe laxity in the skin around the eyes. If you want to get a jump-start on this problem, visit us for BBL Forever Young™ treatments and IPL treatments a few times a year. Research shows that this protocol slows the aging process.
  2. Undereye bags. For the eyes to look youthful, there should be little to no bagging beneath them. With age comes structural changes that allow superficial fatty deposits to protrude, creating puffiness. Sagginess in the skin beneath the eyes is a prevalent problem that, in some cases, may need to be treated with eyelid surgery. However, many of the people we meet are not at that point yet. The solution: In our dermatology office, we use dermal fillers to add volume to the upper cheek and tear trough area. With the right technique, it is possible to disguise bags for a prolonged period of time.
  3. Crow’s feet. We get these tiny little wrinkles at the outer corners of our eyes when we smile and squint. Usually, they go away when we release the muscles around the eyes. With time, though, muscular contraction becomes persistent enough to make crow’s feet visible all the time. The solution: BOTOX can correct certain lines or wrinkles on the face that result from expressions and the muscle-movement needed to make them.

In most cases, it is possible to achieve near-immediate results that bring life back into the eyes. To learn more, call  (941) 379-6647.
